Q When should I report an outage?
A We recommend that customers initially not call Lakeland Electric to report an outage so the lines can remain open for emergency situations. If there’s an emergency call immediately following the storm. If lines are down or sparking in or near your yard, or if there’s a potential hazard that would prevent you from leaving or entering your home or neighborhood please call.
After a period of time, call if you’re the only one in the neighborhood without service. However, check all circuit breakers or fuses to help determine if the outage might be a result of a household problem. If the problem isn’t readily apparent, utility personnel will assist in determining if the problem is household or utility.
Lightning striking power lines can cause fuses to blow or breakers to trip. Before calling our office, make sure that you didn’t blow a fuse or trip a breaker.
Please don’t report the same trouble more than once. We will respond as soon as possible.
Beware of natural gas leaks. Report all gas related problems to the proper authorities.
