Dear Lakeland Electric Customers,

June 1st through November 30th is Florida’s official hurricane season. We know from past experience that these terrible storms can be unpredictable and devastating in their power and ability to cause damage. They have left our homes and businesses without power for hours, days and even weeks.

Hopefully, we have all fully recovered from the 2004 hurricane season. Above all, I think we learned that being prepared early and being constantly watchful during a threat is critical. There should be no excuse for any of us not to be prepared for this year’s storm season.
Rest assured Lakeland Electric is planning for the safety of the community’s electrical system.

During a hurricane, Lakeland Electric will implement its own in-house Emergency Operations Plan. Part of this plan involves the monumental job of restoring utility equipment and electric service to our customers. We will do everything humanly possible to quickly and safely achieve restoration as soon as the storm danger passes. Once again, we utilized our lessons learned from the 2004 hurricane season and fine-tuned our plan even more.

Download your copy of the “2007 Hurricane Guide” so you can be better prepared to plan for the safety of your family. I urge you to thoroughly review this guide and keep it close at hand during hurricane season.

Your cooperation and patience are key to the success of these plans.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,
Jim Stanfield
General Manager
